The war of words between the Inkatha Freedom Party and the African National Congress in Greytown rages on after the ANC refused to remove ANC president Jacob Zuma's picture in the council chambers.

Now the ANC has vowed that it will not respect what it calls the "Umvoti kangaroo chamber" because it does not conform to any of the country's government buildings stipulations.

ANC chairman Philani Mavundla said yesterday that the council chamber has no South African flag or a municipal flag, but instead it boasts the framed pictures of IFP leaders Mangosuthu Buthelezi and former premier Lionel Mtshali.

Mayor Petros Ngubane said that if the ANC wanted to have Zuma's picture erected in the council "they should follow proper procedures".
