Put your dreams into action

Are you a dreamer?

Are you a dreamer?

Want to work for yourself and rule your own world?

You can start now to put those dreams into action? Let's make it happen; and, did you think that mathematics, physical science and technology can better the future of Gauteng, the rest of South Africa, and the world?

It can all start through the yearly Smart Young Mindz Challenge.

Smart Young Mindz, targeted at Grade 8, 9 and 10 pupils, is a corporate social initiative programme of Blue IQ (BIQ) and the Gauteng government.

Its partners are the Gauteng department of education and Sowetan. Sowetan's Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation has made the challenge a part of its youth development activities.

SYM aims to stimulate interest among pupils in the fields of maths, science, entrepreneurship and technology by encouraging them to submit smart business ideas. It also motivates pupils to investigate problems, wants and needs in their communities and to generate ideas for commercially-viable products or services.

Funnyman Shonisani Muleya is due to conduct induction sessions during a roadshow that will touch many Gauteng high schools between February and March. The competition closes in May, followed by adjudication between May and June. The awards gala is scheduled for Johannesburg in late June.
