Making 2010 a memorable event

The central theme of Smart Young Mindz is the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

And rightly so. As world attention is focused on South Africa, the excitement is building towards the first Soccer World Cup in Africa, and all South Africans are preparing in many ways - to make this an unforgettable event.

Surely, the next two years will be filled with much anticipation and - all over South Africa - entrepreneurs are working towards ensuring their piece of this big pie.

Surely money is important, but are their inventions and ideas sustainable or are these likely to fizzle out after the few weeks of soccer madness?

To nurture future pioneers, the 2007 Smart Young Mindz Challenge requires pupils in grades 8, 9 and 10 to make the 2010 Soccer World Cup a once in a life time experience for people with physical disabilities by, among other things:

lInvestigating and designing the seating arrangement for people with disabilities at the stadiums;

lConceptualising, designing and equipping a seating area or booths for people with disabilities, people with wheelchairs, and other physical shortcomings;

lEquipping the seating area or equipping booths with the latest technological tools to meet different needs of fans with disabilities.
