Correctional Services said that “matters are under control” at Johannesburg’s Sun City Prison on Wed.
The wife of a Limpopo municipal councillor has accused him of neglecting her and their children and having sex with a girl young enough to be his daughter.
"The man is so irresponsible that he would choose to break and enter the house through a window when he finds the house locked. He does that when he returns from his escapades in the early hours of the morning," the wife says.
Greater Giyani councillor Mbhazima Elias Ngoveni made headlines recently when he was arrested for stock theft.
Now he is facing another battle - on the home front.
Ngoveni's wife Sostinah says her husband is smitten with an 18-year-old girl who failed Grade 12 last year.
"We live together under one roof, but he has failed to restore conjugal rights since June last year. He does not touch me," Sostinah says.
She says three of their four children have dropped out of school because their father "does not think of anything except his young lover".
"The fourth and elder child is even older than his lover," Sostinah says. "We have just fought and he has bitten my hands."
She says problems started after he bought a car last year.
"Before that, everything was normal and we could differ sometimes like all couples, but after he bought a car, he started staying away from home and coming back in the early hours of the morning.
"Are these the actions of a community leader," asks Sostinah.
She says she has taken the matter to the local tribal office but nothing has been done.
Sostinah has reported her husband to the maintenance court, which ordered that he pay R1600 a month, which she feels, is too little.
Ngoveni agrees the situation at his home is not normal. "It is true I am in love with the girl. I want to take her as my second wife. My wife wants to hear none of it."
He says he loves his wife and does not want to divorce her.
