Young and experienced golfers will tee off for the R1,8 million purse in the Dimension Data Pro-Am at the Lost City and Gary Player Country Club in Sun City from today until Sunday.

A number of golfers are determined to do well in this Sunshine Tour event as it will give them an opportunity to showcase their talents and improve their standing in the order of merit.

The field is wide open, with last year's winner Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and Anton Haig in Doha for the Qatar Masters this week.

This gives players such as Ulrich van den Berg and James Kamte, the 2008 European Tour graduates, an opportunity to lift the trophy along with the R285300 first prize.

The return of James Kingston could be a major attraction to this tournament. Kingston showed his mettle at Pearl Valley in December when he won the South African Airways Open title.

He is very accurate and consistent, and effective around the greens, but admits "my putter tends to run cold on me and that tends to affect my confidence".

He will face a strong challenge from players such as Omar Sandys, Irvin Mosate, Thabang Simon, Lindani Ndwandwe and Bafana Hlophe.
