Although a string of poor results saw Jomo Cosmos finish the first round at the bottom of the Absa Premiership table, team manager Andrew Rabutla says they are not perturbed.
He said some of their key players were injured and suspended and that was why they could not produce good results.
He said players who were affected were Morgan Gould, Clinton Sephadi, Valery Nahayo and Bamuza Sono.
Sono returned from Israel in December, where he went for trials, but his coach and father Jomo Sono was unavailable to explain how the trials went.
Rabutla said they the players were all back at training and working on their finishing.
"It's not the first time that we find ourselves in such a position, and we're not pressing panic buttons yet because we'll move out of the quagmire soon," he said.
"The strikers were focused [at training]. With luck on our side the best of Ezenkosi is still to be seen. It's like pre-season training for us and we're making use of the break. We're going to surprise a number of teams in the league when the season resumes.
"We may be right at the bottom of the log, but our aim is to end up in the top four," said Rabutla.
He added that Ezenkosi and Moroka Swallows have been invited to take part in the two-day Gaborone Challenge Cup at Gaborone Stadium this weekend.
The tournament will also feature Botswana Mascom Premier League giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Extension Gunners. It will kick off with the semifinals on Friday night and the final on Saturday afternoon.
The Birds' general manager, Sipho Xulu was also delighted about the tournament, saying it was an opportunity for them to get more supporters in Botswana.
"It will also come in handy for the coach to give all the players, old and new, an opportunity to showcase their talent."
Xulu said they have signed on Maimane Phiri for six months and Siphesihle Ngobese has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
"We're also negotiating with two others who we may sign up soon."
Organiser of the tournament Fobby Radipotsane said they were excited to host the two Absa Premiership sides.
"The Absa Premiership is among the top leagues in the world," he said.
"We will learn a great deal from this competition."
