Sowetan reports racially biased

I am a keen reader of Sowetan. Like many of my white contemporaries, I made a mental shift towards greater racial harmony in South Africa a long time ago.

I am a keen reader of Sowetan. Like many of my white contemporaries, I made a mental shift towards greater racial harmony in South Africa a long time ago.

It is, therefore, with great sadness and concern that I have to voice my concern following your reports on the killings at the informal settlement of Skielik. The initial report dripped with racial undertones, even though the motive behind the killings had not been established. This was coupled with an article headed "Brutal Racist Killings", in which you highlight five cases of racial abuse over the last seven years.

I could never condone the actions of this lunatic. What concerns me though is the seeming lack of objectivity in your reporting. The majority of whites have changed their attitude towards blacks, yet it seems that certain black people are bent on branding all whites as racist.

I have never seen Sowetan taking a stance against the killings of white farmers and city-dwellers by blacks, yet these incidents vastly outnumber white on black racism. It, therefore, seems racism means white prejudice towards blacks, but not the other way round.

Please don't repeat mistakes of the past by stepping into this racist trap.
