Bantu Holomisa was quoted as saying that President Thabo Mbeki was right not to attend the ANC national executive meeting and its anniversary celebrations because a head of state cannot be addressed by a person facing serious criminal charges.
He did not bother to find out the reason the president was not at the events, despite repeated reports that Mbeki had forwarded his apology. But the ANC is not surprised by Holomisa's reckless outbursts.
It is ridiculous to make these false statements because the whole world was watching when ANC president Jacob Zuma made his inaugural address at Polokwane in Mbeki's presence. Holomisa is trying to create division and tension in our movement though no one in the ANC has ever tried to dictate who the UDM's leader should be.
Holomisa will be disappointed to see a united ANC. Zuma and Mbeki have correctly articulated that there is no crisis in our movement and there never will be. Holomisa's and his comrades-in-arms, the DA's, wishful thinking that our movement will disintegrate will never materialise.
ANC members elected Zuma leader and the NEC reaffirmed that Mbeki is the head of state.
Zuma is ANC president and therefore the president of every member of the movement, including Mbeki.
