The trial of Oupa Lethebe, the Ekurhuleni traffic officer who allegedly gunned down his fiancée outside the Vereeniging police station, had to be postponed because the judge was sick.

Yesterday, a medical expert was to testify about Lethebe's claims that he does not remember shooting his fiancée, 40-year-old Captain Jubriel Tladi.

In his testimony this week, Lethebe, 43, told the Johannesburg high court that he remembers going to pick up Tladi at Vosloorus police station and finding her in a car with another man.

"She got out of the car as soon as she saw me. We had an argument but I don't remember what happened afterwards. I woke up in hospital and was informed of her death long after it happened," he said.

Lethebe has pleaded not guilty to murder, arguing he was under stress and could not be held criminally liable.
