Vaal Rand and Vereeniging police have released identikits of four men wanted for crimes in the areas.
They say the four are the most wanted criminals and appeal to the community to help apprehend them.
Vaal Rand police want to catch Mjoseph Mzizi, 20, who is also known as Mokwallo.
Inspector Trudie Wilken said yesterday Mzizi is dangerous and is suspected to be hiding in the Vaal and Sasolburg areas in the Free State.
Mzizi committed a string of crimes in the Vaal Rand between 2004 and last year.
He is wanted for three cases of theft, one of car theft, three robberies, possession of stolen property, house robbery, house breaking and possession of house- breaking equipment.
Wilken said that in one of the crimes Mzizi committed, he attacked a couple in Vanderbijlpark last year.
Meanwhile, Vereeniging police are looking for three armed robbers.
Captain Shado Mashobane said the men robbed an Engin filling station on January 7 at about 12.30am in Vereeniging.
"Two of the three suspects were caught on CCTV footage during the robbery, " Mashobane said.
He said two of the robbers held up the service station staff at gunpoint and took an undisclosed amount of money. All three fled in a blue BMW sedan.
