Two more people have been arrested in the case involving two Ekurhuleni metro police, who allegedly killed a Mpumalanga resident by pouring acid over him in November last year.

David Vusumuzi Mkhonjwa, 40, of Sundra in Mpumalanga, died on November 23 after he was allegedly tortured together with his sister, Vivian Mkhonjwa, age not specified, and Eddie Saal, 46.

The three were also allegedly robbed of about R9000 in cash. The two men allegedly had acid poured over them at a house in Sundra in the Delmas area.

The arrest of Thabiso Jeffrey Moloi, 34, and Lerato Motloung, 28, brings to six the number of people arrested since December 6 last year.

The others are Phumzile Chipapa, 28, and Charles Mnguni, 34, both members of the Ekurhuleni metro cops. Also arrested were Khanyape Mekoa, 34, and Gugu Msibi, 32.

They also to face charges of kidnapping.

Mpumalanga police Superintendent Abie Khoabane said three of the accused appeared in the Delmas magistrate's court for bail applications yesterday.

According to Khoabane, the accused were travelling in two clearly marked Ekurhuleni metro police vehicles on the night of the alleged incident. He said they allegedly collected the victims from Selcourt in the Springs area and took them to a house in Sundra, in Delmas.

The metro police allegedly interrogated the victims and when they were not supplied with plausible answers, the police allegedly poured acid over them.

"They were also said to have applied electric shocks to the men before leaving them," said Khoabane.

One of the victims, Saal, reported the matter to the Delmas police who are investigating murder, serious assault and abduction charges against the accused.

Khoabane said the metro police were operating outside their jurisdiction.

"We do not have metro police in Mpumalanga," he said.
