Two more arrests have been made in the case of a teacher, who allegedly hired hitmen to kill her businessman husband in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
The weekend arrests bring to six the number of arrests made since the brutal murder of Solomon "Solly" Hlongwane, owner of the popular Solly's Tavern.
Hlongwane of Doornkop plot, in the Middelburg District, was strangled to death on December 27.
Among the detainees are Hlongwane's estranged wife and school teacher Adelaide Mosehlana, 39, of 41 Blesbok Street Groblersdal; Adbul Proud Kantazi, 31, a Malawian inyanga; Ntswako Samuel Madimetse, 26, a security guard in Limpopo and Abram Kope Shongwe, 30, of Motetema in Nebo.
Spokesman for the Mpumalanga organised crime unit Captain Leonard Hlathi could not confirm the new arrests.
But sources close to the police said two fresh arrests were made on Friday in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga, and Tafelkop in Limpopo respectively.
The two are expected to appear in court soon, according to sources.
The other four appeared briefly before Magistrate JP De Klerk in the Middelburg district court on Friday and their case was postponed to later this week for bail application.
It allegedly started with Mosehlana employing the services of Kantazi to provide her with muti that would bring Hlongwane back to her. When that failed, she allegedly approached the inyanga again to help her kill Hlongwane and promised to pay him R45000.
Kantazi found a hitman from Hammanskraal in Pretoria and paid him R5000 for the hit. But the man disappeared with the money without undertaking the job.
Kantazi later found five hitmen from Limpopo, who on the night of December 27, strangled Hlongwane to death.
