The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa is on a drive to bring about more competition in the country's telecommunications market.
The authority yesterday released a list of possible retail and wholesale markets in the telecoms sector where operators might have unfair competitive advantage.
This is the first stage of the authority's goal of opening up the market and bringing prices down.
Icasa's Tracy Cohen said: "The Electronic Communications Act requires that we define the markets that telecommunications companies might have unfair advantage in before we can start implementing any regulations." - Leseja Mokgata
