Britney Spears' ongoing personal problems will be the focus of today's edition of Dr Phil McGraw's US TV show, after the therapist visited the troubled singer in hospital on Saturday.
McGraw chatted to Spears as she checked out of Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre, where she was admitted on Thursday, following a stand-off with police at her Beverly Hills mansion when she refused to hand over her boys to former husband Kevin Federline after a scheduled visit.
Spears was temporarily held at Cedars-Sinai under Section 5150, meaning doctors had reason to believe she was a danger to herself or others - and McGraw insists the 26-year-old is in urgent need of professional help.
He says: "My meeting with Britney and some family members (on Saturday morning) in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever before that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention.
"She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room.
"We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car."
McGraw taped the Spears-themed show yesterday, to be aired today.
It's not thought Spears will be contributing in any way.
On Friday, a judge awarded Federline "sole legal custody and sole physical custody" of two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James at an emergency hearing.
The custody order lasts until today. - Wenn
