Despite dark cloud hanging over his political future, ANC president, Jacob Zuma, 65, took some time and mind off politics and married his fourth wife, Nompumelelo Ntuli, in a traditional wedding at his Nkandla homestead, northern KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.

Ntuli is a well-known political activist from KwaMaphumulo, where she also worked as a nurse at a local hospital. The couple has two children together, Thandisiwe and Sinqobile.

The traditional ceremony was attended by the Zuma family, close relatives, friends and members of the local community. MaNtuli, 33, as she is affectionately called, is Zuma's fourth wife - his first is Sizakele Khumalo.

Previously, Zuma was legally married to Kate Mantsho, who died in 2000, and Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, from whom he split in 1998.

He is also married to Thobeka Mabhija and has had a long-term relationship with Minah Shongwe.

But the groom's future hangs in the balance after the National Prosecuting Authority decided last week to recharge him in August on 18 charges, including corruption, fraud, tax evasion, racketeering and money laundering.

They relate to R4 million he is said to have received from convicted fraudster, Schabir Shaik and French arms dealer, Thint.

Zuma's trial is expected to begin in Pietermaritzburg High Court in August.
