Sheila Goitsene, one of South Africa's longest serving women soccer administrators, is dead.
Goitsene was employed by Premier Soccer League outfit Moroka Swallows as a secretary, a position she held for more than 15 years.
Commonly known as Ausi Sheila in soccer circles, Goitsene died in North West on Christmas Day after a car accident on the N12 between Klerksdorp and Wolmaranstad on her way to visit family members in Taung.
"We are all devastated by her death," said Sipho Xulu, Swallows' general manager.
"Ausi Sheila was the longest serving secretary of Moroka Swallows, she was a mother to many within the club.
"She was a loving and caring person, dedicated to her job. We will remember Ausi Sheila for serving Swallows and football in general under very difficult times.
"She will be sorely missed by the myriad of the Birds' supporters.
"Our deepest and sincere condolences go to her family and friends," said Xulu.
He said that Goitsene will be buried at Manthestad, Taung, on Saturday.
The service will start at 7am.
l Swallows have arranged a bus for supporters and any other person wishing to attend the funeral.
He said the bus will leave from Carlton Centre in Commissioner Street, Johannesburg, tomorrow at 10pm.
