The 26-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in Atteridgeville on New Year's Day has been arrested.
Violet Ranton was stabbed several times in the neck and chest. According to police, an argument had ensued between her and her boyfriend of two years, Vincent Nkosi, when she told him that she was HIV positive.
Nkosi's mother, Rhoda Baloyi, 45, told Sowetan yesterday that her son came back home on Tuesday night. She then called the police who came and arrested him.
Atteridgeville police spokesman Captain Thomas Mufamadi confirmed that Nkosi had been arrested and charged with murder. He will appear in the Atteridgeville magistrate's court today.
Nkosi had allegedly tried to hang himself after realising he had killed his girlfriend.
