ISLAMABAD - Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is to address the nation today, his spokesman said yesterday, days after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto caused mass unrest.
"The president will address the nation tomorrow at 8pm," presidential spokesman Rashid Qureshi told AFP, without giving details of what Musharraf would discuss.
Since Bhutto was killed last Thursday, Pakistan has been hit by a wave of violence that has left 58 people dead and thrown upcoming elections into chaos, with a date for the vote to be announced today. It is likely the January 8 elections will be postponed. - Sapa-AFP
