The ANC's December conference in Polokwane where new leaders were elected has come and gone, but the Jacob Zuma euphoria lingers on.
The cellphone networks were clogged by a host of creative New Year's messages which ridiculed the losing camp and praised Zuma.
Some of the messages circulated via cellphones read: "May your happiness increase like petrol price, your sorrow fall like Zim dollar, your joy fill your heart like Zuma supporters."
"On behalf of Jacob Zuma, Blade Nzimande, Zwelinzima Vavi, Fikile Mbalula, Paul Mashatile, Billy Masetlha and the rest of us in the ANC, we wish you a happy new year."
"I wish 2008 gives you the strength of King Shaka, bravery of Chris Hani, wisdom of Nelson Mandela, a wallet of Patrice Motsepe and the fame of Msholozi."
The messages seem to highlight the cult status that Zuma currently enjoys after his election as ANC president and possibly the leader of South Africa, come 2009.
The messages seem to suggest that his supporters are not concerned about the ongoing threats to haul him before the courts.
The messages are clearly tinged with a sense of anticipation that Zuma will ascend to power as the country's president - trial or no trial.
