As a mother allegedly beat to death a man who had allegedly raped her daughter, a four-year-old was raped and strangled.
The mother and her brothers, aged 32 and 35, allegedly attacked the suspect in a street in Nebo, Limpopo.
The suspect had allegedly raped the woman's 19-year-old daughter in May and fled to Johannesburg when he heard that police were looking for him.
The woman was arrested at her home on Christmas Day and her brothers were taken into custody yesterday.
The three are expected to appear in the Nebo magistrate's court today.
Meanwhile, a man was arrested following a massive manhunt involving the police and members of the community after he allegedly raped and strangled a four-year-old girl.
The man hid the girl's body in bushes by covering it with branches.
Police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said the man broke into the woman's house in Maedani village near Tshilwabusiku in Vhembe.
"The suspect attempted to rape the girl's mother. The woman and her elder daughter fled but the youngest was left behind," Ramatseba said.
The man will appear in the Siloam magistrate's court today to face charges of rape and murder.
Also on Christmas Day, a 35-year-old man was arrested at Sekgopo village for allegedly raping a 80-year-old pensioner.
The pensioner was asleep in her house when the man allegedly kicked the door open and raped her.
The alleged rapist will appear in the Modjadjiskloof magistrate's court today to face charges of rape and housebreaking.
