DAR ES SALAAM - Sudan underlined their growing strength in African football when their second-string team beat Rwanda on penalties to retain the East and Central Africa Senior Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Sudan won the penalty shoot out 6-4 after the game ended 2-2 after extra time.

Rwanda were the more determined of the two sides as they fought their way back after trailing Sudan by two goals scored by Abdel Hamid Amaria in the 23rd minute and Modaher Eltaab at the start of the second half. - Sapa-AFP
