A special task team has been set up to investigate the killing of Escourt farmer, David Green, last week.

Green was shot dead at his farm in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands on Thursday night by men wearing old SANDF camouflage uniform. He was a former member of the KwaZulu-Natal Agriculture Union (Kwanalu).

Agriculture and environmental affairs MEC, Mtholephi Mthimkhulu, described Green's murder as shocking and uncalled-for.

He said his department would leave no stone unturned in the investigations.

Mthimkhulu said: "We condemn the murder in the strongest terms and it receives our utmost attention. Agriculture is vital in any country because we can't survive without it."
