A 26-year old man has been arrested for killing a policeman near Mandeni on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast at the weekend.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesman, Superintendent Muzi Mngomezulu, said two policemen were following up on a report of violence when the incident happened on Saturday afternoon.
They found a man breaking windows at a house in Bhidla Section in Sundumbili.
Mngomezulu said the man allegedly attacked one of the policemen and stabbed him several times. The policeman died on the scene.
The suspect ran away, but was later arrested by members of a back-up police force that was called out.
The suspect is due to appear in the Nyoni magistrate's court soon.
