What concerned me was that these people carried placards bearing the face of ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma, but at no time did I see or hear him reprimanding them for their behaviour towards fellow leaders.
The more Lekota tried to put a point across in regard to the rules of the conference, the more these hooligans went on with their act of disobedience and disruption.
Those of us who have been members of the movement for a long time were horrified by what was happening to our beloved party. It was a shame.
If they knew the traditions of the ANC, they would have known that once people are elected to positions of power, they are accorded the respect such positions command.
If they cared about the organisation, they would not go on and embarrass themselves and their "preferred leaders".
Zuma has continuously failed to reprimand his supporters whenever they go out of their way and insult his comrades in leadership.
This was again evident on Sunday and Monday. I do not see him taking the responsibility of a true leader and reprimanding these hooligans, who are certainly not doing his stature any good.
