No Lucas Moripe games

The yearly Lucas Moripe games, which have been popular in Atteridgeville and other Tshwane townships for the past seven years, will not take place this year.

The yearly Lucas Moripe games, which have been popular in Atteridgeville and other Tshwane townships for the past seven years, will not take place this year.

Though the official reason is that the organisers want time to strategise and launch some new projects, the withdrawal of Mamelodi Sundowns last year as sponsors was a blow to the tournament.

Project Manager Itumeleng Moloto said the games will be back next year, but with the focus on development.

The tournament is named after prominent former player Lucas "Masterpieces" Moripe. - Linda Moreotsene
