It was a bloody Sunday at the Nancefield men's hostel in Soweto.
Four men were found dead in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Two others died later. They all had bullet wounds.
Police spokesman Captain Lindiwe Mbatha said no one had come forward to explain what had happened, but police were investigating.
"We received a call at about 4.30am that six people were lying in a pool of blood at Nancefield Hostel.
"Four were certified dead, while two others were still alive. They were rushed to hospital but died on the way. No arrests have been made," she said.
Mbatha has appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
The names of the dead have not been released until their next of kin have been informed.
