Busi Mhlongo's long-awaited DVD was launched yesterday at the SABC's Panrama in Johannesburg.

Recorded at a high-profile, glittering affair attended by President Thabo Mbeki in Newtown at the end of October, SABC is hoping the DVD will raise the much-needed funds for the ailing maskandi musician.

Mhlongo was also presented with a cheque for R200000 by the SABC, from the money raised at the October event.

Upbeat and in high spirits, Mhlongo could barely express her excitement and gratitude over the benefit concert and overwhelming response it generated.

"The wounds are there but the joy in my heart is healing the pain. These days I am intoxicated with life.

"I tell anyone who spends time with me that there is a God. You cannot see Him with your naked eyes, but He works through other people. I have learnt that God has a plan for you and these past few months people have shown me God is love," she says emotively, adding that for the first time since she became sick, she was not thinking about her cancer.

"I am dumbfounded by the DVD launch today and everything that people have done for me. As the youth would say: 'Zingishaya ding dong'. The space I am at, I just have to get my strength back so that I can start work on my new album. It's what keeps me going," she says.

"I am grateful for the prayers, the laughter, the young musicians who have been coming to see me, the strangers who have offered me prayers and everything that has been done to bring me back to my feet," she says laughing heartily.

"God bless Dali Mpofu, Sipho Sithole, Duma ka Ndlovu and Zanele Mbeki, who sent me a get well card and everybody who has been involved in helping me," Mhlongo adds.
