Trainer Nick Durandt has thrown down the gauntlet on Vus'Umuzi "Marvelous" Malinga to show his readiness to fight for the WBC title by taking on Simphiwe "V12" Vetyeka.

Durandt dared "Marvelous", the WBC International bantam weight champion, on Monday after Vetyeka's pre-fight medical for his fight on Friday with Lubabalo Msuthu.

"Vetyeka will take care of Msuthu the same way he will with Malinga," said Durandt. "Vetyeka is not the reigning national champion by default and he will prove that against both Msuthu and Malinga.

"The fight with Malinga is one of the many local match-ups that must happen in order for the country to know who to back all the way to world championship fights."

Malinga, the warrior from Ekurhuleni, has already been approved to oppose Veeraphol Nakhonluang in a WBC bantamweight title eliminator next year. The winner will challenge champion Husumi Hasegawa who outpointed Vetyeka in May.

But Vetyeka must first take care of Msuthu, who he fights at Nasrec tomorrow night. Their fight will be presented by Rams Promotions of Kenosi Mlabateki.

Vetyeka predicted a sixth round stoppage in what will be his seventh defence. Vetyeka stopped Ebernezer Tumane in two rounds in August in what was Vetyeka's 10th short route win from 17 victories against a defeat.

Msuthu has seven wins and a loss. The fight will be broadcast live on Blow by Blow at 10pm.
