Naledi, a musical play that talks about the HIV-Aids pandemic, is on at Durban's Playhouse Theatre.
Written by Jerry Pooe, one of the country's leading playwrights, the show runs until Friday.
Boasting inspiring songs of praise, the show features gospel exponent Jabu Hlongwane of Joyous Celebration fame.
To make this musical a success, Pooe has worked with people such as Themba Luthuli, Mthunzi Namba, Jabulani Mfeka, Xolani Zibane and Zenzi Mbuli.
Naledi is an interesting story of a young boy from the village whose parents died of Aids. He is forced to leave his home to work in the city, to support his grandmother and sister.
"The young man ignores advice from the angels who have always directed him to follow Jesus. He ends up a hard-core criminal.
"When he finds himself in jail, he realises that as a Christian, his ways have separated him from his values and his Jesus," explained Pooe.
The story is told from three perspectives - the spiritual, angelic and real world - with powerful gospel music in the background.
"I am sure that this show will entertain Durban theatre and gospel music lovers during this festive season.
"I believe everyone has a reason to be joyful during the Christmas season," says Pooe.
