AmaZulu will test the resurgence of Bidvest Wits' when the two meet in an Absa Premiership duel at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi tomorrow at 3.30pm.
The match will see Wits coach Roger de Sa coming face to face with his past master, Clive "The Dog" Barker, who is now the AmaZulu mentor.
Barker guided De Sa during his successful spell as Bafana Bafana coach.
Philani Mabaso, Usuthu's publicist, said they will go for broke for a win, but he admitted that it would not be an easy match against a resurgent Bidwest Wits.
"We are aware of their potential and therefore we will give them the respect they deserve," said Mabaso yesterday.
It has become difficult for teams to beat Usuthu at home recently and De Sa will need to come up with a calculated game plan if he intends to succeed where other teams have faltered.
Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars came to KwaZulu-Natal as firm favourites to beat AmaZulu but they returned to their provinces with only a point each.
Mabaso has stressed the need for the team to start winning, not just drawing, consistently at home.
George "Soekkies" Mogotsi, Wits' administrative manager, said spirits in their camp were high and they were looking forward to the match.
"Obviously, we are excited with the way we have been playing, but we are not going to relax in our next matches," Mogotsi said.
Siyabonga Mkhwanazi, who scored the equaliser in their 1-all draw with Stars on Sunday, and seasoned campaigner John "Shoes" Moshoeou once again carry AmaZulu's hopes for victory in this fixture.
Dumisani Ngwenya will also add power up front for the hosts.
Marco de Jesus, who struck a brace when Wits beat Black Leopards in Johannesburg on Saturday, is a key player for the visitors.
Leopards, meanwhile, are hoping to regroup at the expense of Thanda Royal Zulu at Princess Magogo Stadium, in KwaMashu, in another match billed for tomorrow.
Kickoff is at 3pm.
But the hosts have promised not to drop points at home.
"We will fight for a win because we really need to move away from the bottom of the log," Johan Eriksson, Thanda Royal Zulu's assistant coach, said yesterday.
