After numerous hours of non-stop rehearsals, jet-setting, tears and sweat, the winner of Idols IV was announced last night and it was Capetonian Jody Williams.

The 17-year-old songstress has been on shaky ground since the top five in this popular talent contest were selected.

Though her contender's voice, Andriette Norman, has been described as black velvet for a lot of good reasons, there was no stopping William's star.

Still critiques and bloggers argue that the teenager didn't have the vocal agility required to make it in this kind of a competition.

"Frankly, Jody Williams was not much of a contender for Andriette," says one blogger.
