Marcos De Jesus scored a brace to help Wits University defeat Black Leopards 2-0 in an Absa Premiership match at Wits stadium on Saturday night.

Many soccer followers tipped Black Leopards to win the game after their impressive 2-0 win against Mamelodi Sundowns in midweek but their strikers failed to convert the chances they created.

The first goal of the match came in the ninth minute after De Jesus converted a cross from Marawaan Bantam.

Five minutes later Black Leopards' Walter Ramulondi tried to equalise but his header was saved by an alert Moeneeb Josephs.

De Jesus completed his brace in the 16th minute with a stunning goal that even confused referee Jonas Nhlapo, who needed to consult his assistants and match officials before awarding it.

Ramulondi was substituted in the 29th minute due to injury and replaced by Sibusiso Dlamini, who failed to make an impact. Black Leopards pulled a goal back in the 44th minute through Mulondo Sikhwivhilu. - Sapa
