Limpopo's football and business fraternity woke up to the heartbreaking news of the death of Motopi Timothy Monyama, 68, at the weekend.
Monyama died at Lebowakgomo Hospital last Friday after a long battle with diabetes.
The dignified and hardworking Monyama's business success did not come without toil and sweat.
He loved football, a sport he has been involved in for more than three decades.
He was the owner of Vodacom Promotional League club Bosveld United for many years, until he sold it to Sinky Mnisi and his co-directors two seasons ago.
Popularly known as Oom T, Monyama is credited with unearthing household names such as Alex Bapela, Joseph Baloyi and Lionel Manamela.
Monyama owned a farm in Roedtan in Limpopo and also owned businesses in Lebowakgomo and Phalaborwa.
Nakedi Lekota, South African Football Association Limpopo president said: "We will always remember Monyama for his great love of soccer.
"He is one of the people who fought hard for the development of soccer in Limpopo. In most cases, Monyama used money from his own pocket."
Monyama will be buried at Ga-Rakgwatha Cemetery outside Lebowakgomo tomorrow.
The service will be held at house No 2843 Zone B in Lebowakgomo from 7am.
