Nedbank and Old Mutual have opened two Green Zone branches, which offer customers banking, insurance and assurance services under one roof.

The concept for the outlets was born when Nedbank bought Old Mutual's 50percent stake in Old Mutual Bank last month.

Managing director of retail banking services at Nedbank, Clive van Horen, said: "A Green Zone is a single outlet with Nedbank providing banking services and Old Mutual proving assurance and insurance to our clients.

"Aside from existing Nedbank and Old Mutual clients, we are hoping for an inflow of new business."

Two Green Zones have been opened in Rosebank, Johannesburg, and another in Idutywa, Eastern Cape.

Plans are under way to open 18 more branches countrywide by June next year, said Van Horen.

Another Green Zone will be opened in Pinelands,Cape Town, next week.
