A 79-year-old KwaZulu-Natal man accused of murdering his two tenants appeared briefly in the Pinetown magistrate's court yesterday.
Harold Smith is accused of shooting 45-year-old June Acton-Tuck and her husband, 60-year-old Geordiy Acton-Tuck, dead on November 4 during an argument over rent.
Magistrate Correll Language ordered that the case be remanded to January 18 for further investigation.
At the time Smith was arrested, police spokesman Michael Read said: "The landlord had an argument with the husband and wife . he then pulled out a firearm and shot them."
Smith has been released on bail of R20000.
Geordiy was shot once in the chest and his wife sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest.
Police said a firearm, presumed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene. - Sapa
