In their quest to fight crime in Mahlabathini, near Ulundi in northern Zulu- land, police have made a special request for dog donations.
Captain Senzo Khumalo said yesterday they would like to have German Shepherd, Doberman, Rottweiler and Border Collie dogs. The Collies are especially good at finding hidden drugs.
The donated dogs will be trained as police dogs. At present, the dog unit has seven dogs and is in desperate need of three more.
He described dogs as the most valuable members in their unit, which play a vital role in combating crime.
Khumalo said anyone willing to make a donation can contact him on 035-873-0304, extension 205.
