Free State Stars plan to hold on to their second spot on the Absa Premiership log by sending the rejuvenated SuperSport United back to Gauteng empty-handed.

The two sides meet at Goble Park in Bohlokong - where Stars won all their five games - in what is expected to be a thriller on Sunday at 3.30pm.

Ea lla Koto have collected 18 points from 10 games, five points behind log leaders Ajax Cape Town. United are fourth on 15 points from the same number of games.

Rantsi Mokoena, Stars' brand manager, said they were on a mission to maintain their 100 percent unbeaten run at home this season.

"We have put aside the 3-1 win over Platinum Stars and everybody is hard at work preparing for the big one against United," he said.

"Those guys [United] seem to have turned the corner, so it is a natural thing that we are bracing ourselves for a tough game.

"With the exception of injured Fanyana Dhladla, who will be out for about six weeks, the rest of our soldiers are ready for the war on Sunday.

"We have raised the hopes of our supporters and most of the people in the Free State who have been rallying behind the team. So we can't afford to disappoint them," said Mokoena from Soccerex where Stars had a stand to promote themselves.

United's communications manager David "Mazolman" Skhosana was equally confident that they will pocket maximum points.

"Stars have been terrific this season, they are not playing like a team that was campaigning in the First Division League last season," he said.

"It will be a great game because we are doing well lately after getting maximum points in our last three consecutive games."

Stars will pin their hopes on the likes of Duncan Lechesa and Diyo Sibisi, with Katleho Mashego and Katlego Mphela carrying United's hopes.
