James "Big Jamm" Shikwambana, the popular Munghana Lonene FM presenter, has quietly got married.
Sources who were at the glamo- rous event say thousands of people packed the Tzaneen Country Lodge in Limpopo last week to witness the marriage of the top radio presenter to his long-time sweetheart, Reliance Mongwe.
"The venue was packed with politicians, business people, friends and families of the two. Guests included Thobela FM station manager Leuba Ramakgolo, MLFM station manager Mandla Soko, Dingaan Thobela, Pat Malabela, head of SABC radio news Mapule Mbhalati, ex-MEC for sports in Limpopo Joe Maswanganyi, director-general of Limpopo province Nelly Manzini, and MEC for health and welfare in Limpopo Seaparo Sekwati.
Sydney Baloyi, a long-time friend of James, was the programme director, and had the guests in stitches with his sense of humour, a source close to the couple told said.
Top Limpopo bands Zozo and Tinsizwa entertained guests with thrilling live performances.
The ceremony started 10 minutes late as seating had to be rearranged after the venue was already packed by 8am for the 10am event," said the source.
Still some people could not get in and two screens are said to have been organised for the guests outside the hall.
Shikwambana, 31, and Reliance, 29, have been together for more than seven years and have a four-year-old daughter, Somisa.
Earlier on, the remote village of Mulati, outside Tzaneen where James was born, came to a standstill when more than 15 luxury cars transported the bride and the groom to the country lodge.
"It is good to get married because you become more responsible," said Shikwambana.
"For all the years that we have been together, I can tell he is going to be a good husband," said Reliance.
