Struggling Mpumalanga-based Inland Stream First Division side Witbank Spurs' problems deepened on Monday when they parted ways with their coach Cyprian "Mahala" Maimane.

Maimane has since taken a post as a goalkeeper coach for Spurs rivals Mpumalanga Black Aces.

The arrival of Maimane means that he will take over from George Soko, who was acting as a goalkeeper coach. Soko will resume new duties as a full-time team manager, a position vacated by Thethe "TT" Mokgotsi.

Maimane cited a lack of commitment by Spurs directors as a reason to dump the side.

Maimane joined Spurs at the beginning of this season, replacing Steve "Disco" Makua, who cited financial misunderstanding when he quit the team.

His departure follows after Spurs appointed Simon "Phiri" Ngomane as a technical advisor, which has become a norm to many teams in the country when they want to get rid of a head coach.

Maimane said the arrival of Ngomane also has an influence on his decision.

"I was never informed about his position in the team. He arrived at our training and started to call instructions.

"The situation was worse in the games as it confused the players. I was shouting instructions and he was doing the same," said Maimane.

Maimane goalkeeping training expertise is expected to be tested on Sunday when Amazayoni host second-placed Dynamos at Alantic Stadium at 3pm.

Spurs management was not available for comment.
