The men have been charged with conspiracy to commit arson and malicious damage to property. Jomo Mogale, Jack Mathikge and Paul Ncwane were arrested following incidents in 2005 where councillors' houses were set alight and some government buildings torched in protest against the incorporation of Merafong municipality into North West province from Gauteng.
Mogale, a teacher at a local school, was dismissed by the North West education department.
