The mother of the six-year-old girl who was kidnapped and repeatedly raped has decided to move her child to her sister's home in Johannesburg.
This follows police's failure to find a place of safety for her after they promised to do so as her alleged molester, Paul Mofokeng, 26, escaped from custody.
But Police spokesman Sergeant Sanku Tsunke said: "We are still busy making arrangements for the girl to be moved, she will be moved tomorrow (today)."
He said that police were following possible leads in their search for Mofokeng who escaped from the Protea magistrates' court on November 14. This was after his case was postponed to December 28 for a high court date.
The case against two officers arrested in connection with Mofokeng's escape were withdrawn because there was no evidence linking them to the escape.
Meanwhile, Chris Hani-Baragwanath Hospital spokesman Hester van der Heever said the girl will undergo a womb operation on January 16 next year.
