Fourteen people will appear at the Orlando magistrates' court on trespassing charges after being arrested on Saturday.
Police spokesman Captain Lindiwe Mbatha said the 14 people are believed to be from Orlando East, Soweto and Zamimpilo informal settlement. She said the suspects allegedly illegally occupied the new RDP houses in Pennyville near the New Canada station.
They are said to be part of a group of people that have been threatening to occupy these houses forcefully as they say they have been overlooked when the houses were allocated to the beneficiaries. - Vusi Nldovu
