Steven Sefofa, better known as Malo-a-Botsheba in music circles, has been appointed the new spokesman for the troubled Bolobedu United Taxi Association (Buta) in Limpopo, making him the first musician in the country to become a major role player in the taxi industry.

The self-proclaimed king of KwasaKwasa dance, who also owns a fleet of taxis in the Bolobedu area, was appointed the association's spokesman during the annual general meeting held at the association's offices in Modjadjiskloof on Wednesday.

Speaking to Sowetan, Sefofa said one of his main priorities was to make sure the association, with a total of 170 members, was a force to be reckoned with regarding the transportation of passengers.

The association is responsible for the daily transportation of passengers from about 128 villages in the Bolobedu area to the major business centres of Modjadjiskloof and Tzaneen.

Sefofa said their aim was to create a safer environment for both passengers and drivers by building peace between all stakeholders.

"We have approached various companies to assist our association with donations so that we can be able to buy new vehicles for our patrol squads. These patrol cars will enable us to provide the best service for our customers and drivers," Sefofa said.
