This sweetened water has been turned into an expensive drink by the bottling companies. Some have been accused of using tap water.

The bottled water comes in many flavours with a hefty price tag in a country that does not really need it. The water adds no value to life or to our diets.

It is a pity that South Africans are willing to be scammed in this way just to depict a lifestyle they think makes them look good.

Our tap water is perfectly clean and drinkable. It has been judged to be among the best in the world.

There are a few pockets in the country where the local authorities do not adhere to proper procedures and their residents suffer for it.

We do have a drought every seven years or so but we still have perfectly adequate supplies of the most perfect thirst quencher Nature ever produced.

Therefore it is surprising that people use their hard- earned money to perpetuate a scam that they know will not benefit them - but a few unscrupulous capitalists.

We urge the different water boards to promote tap water and save the wannabes from themselves.
