l Male infertility

l Male infertility

In approximately 40percent of couples who are infertile, males are either the sole cause or contributing to the cause.

Sperm problems such as the absence of sperm, a low sperm count and the inability of the male's sperm to bind to the female's egg contribute to male infertility.

l Female infertility

Causes may include blocked Fallopian tubes which are as a result of the lining of the womb growing outside the womb.

Ovulation problems, hormonal imbalances and fibroids also contribute to female infertility.

Untreated sexually transmitted diseases are the major cause of infertility in both sexes.
