Yesterday was a double celebration for musician and poet Mzwakhe Mbuli.
The People's Poet celebrated the lifting of his parole and the selling of more than 500000 units of his Voice of Reason, Mbulism, All The Hits and Thunder (Laduma Izulu).
Friends and colleagues Rebecca Malope and Solly Moholo, as well as the media, had a good time. Mbuli did not disappoint. He made sure the event was a memorable one by reciting poem after poem.
Moholo took the stage to pay tribute to Mbuli in song, jumping up and down "to shame the devil".
"He is a pillar of strength to all artists. He has been the rod behind Operation Dudula. He has done his time and I wish people would leave him alone to get on with his life," Moholo said before bursting into his popular Ke Latlhile Botsotsi.
MC Putco Mafani praised Mbuli for his resilience.
Mbuli thanked all the people who supported him while he was serving time in prison and after he was released.
