The highly anticipated action by musicians who had threatened to protest against the granting of bail to three suspects at the Polokwane magistrate's court yesterday proved to be a damp squib.
The musicians failed to arrive and no protest took place.
The three suspects who work at Dakota Music Warehouse in Polokwane are charged with contravening the Film and Publications Act.
This follows suspicions that their materials were not in line with the act.
Police last week raided the warehouse and confiscated large amounts of stock, after a tip-off that the store was selling counterfeit goods.
The suspects were warned to appear before court yesterday.
During their mysterious court appearance, the three were warned to appear again on March 11.
The suspects were identified as Hassim Abdool, 76, Jatandra Lutchman, 35, and Hellen Meyer, 36, all of Polokwane.
It is not clear whether one of them is the owner of the music store or whether they are all employees.
Yesterday, before their appearance, a lawyer who noticed there were journalists waiting, approached the group and asked them what story they were covering.
After being told it was his clients' story that had attracted the attention of the media, the lawyer, who refused to give his name or disclose whether he represented the three , approached the prosecutor, Faith Kekana, and asked that the matter be heard in chambers.
Kekana turned down the lawyers' request because of the intervention of Inspector Lesiba Ramoshaba, the Polokwane police spokesman.
Later, the media were surprised to see the lawyer and his clients leaving the court building without a word.
