2006 Chrysler 300C Hemi
Motor plan: Factory warranty of three years or 100000
Dealer: Call-a-Car, Menlyn
Our used test car for this week is one of the most unique cars on our roads, and in my opinion, one of Chrysler's most exciting machines.
The search for our 2006 model Chrysler 300C Hemi 5,7-litre petrol took us to Call-a-Car Menlyn. The dealership mostly specialises in Chrysler products.
A number of things make the 300C stand out . Firstly, the design of this car comes with a guarantee that it will turn heads with its huge grille, bold wheel arches, huge 18 inch wheels and military style side windows. Apart from the individual styling, the V8 Hemi engine is just as unique because this is the only manufacturer in the world which built this engine.
With a mere 31000km on the clock, this car is in absolutely good condition. The layout of the controls on the dashboard is quite unique, but looks great and is very practical to use.
The interior is more subtle than the outside, and we think it looks very contemporary with the aluminium inserts throughout the car. The seating makes you feel like a VIP. Even tall drivers and passengers won't have more than their heads or an inch of their shoulders above the bottom of the window.
This brings us to the space in this car. It is huge. The boot capacity is like that of an MPV, and although seating is fairly low, there is more than enough legroom for five adults.
This may be a luxurious saloon, but looking at the performance figures, there are only a few cars on our roads that can out-run this beast. Under the bonnet lies a V8 5,7 litre petrol engine that produces a massive 250 kW and unbelievable 500 Nm of torque. All of this results in a top speed of 250km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,1 seconds.
For safety, you get traction control in the form of a stability programme that helps to maintain control of the vehicle, ABS brakes with EBD and six airbags.
