Two motorists escaped with their lives after their vehicles were involved in road accidents, where one rolled while the other collided with a pole in separate incidents in Mpumalanga.
The accidents happened on Sunday night and yesterday morning, respectively.
The common thing about both accidents was that the two drivers blamed potholes as the cause for the accidents.
In yesterday's accident that happened along the R40 road at Nelspruit at about 2am, a motorist crashed into a pole.
The unidentified driver of a white Uno Fire was seriously injured, but managed to tell paramedics that he was trying to avoid a pothole when he lost control of his vehicle.
He was rushed to Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit for treatment.
In the Sunday accident that happened along the Acornhoek-Klaserie road, near Hoedspruit at about 4pm, the motorist is said to have lost control while also trying to avoid a pothole.
"I was trying to avoid a pothole when my Toyota Yaris lost balance and overturned into the bushes along the road," said Rodger Ubisi.
He called on the government to do something about the potholes because, he said, many other vehicles could get involved in road accidents if nothing was done soon.
"We are in trouble with potholes. I lost my car although I'm not injured, but this is very inconveniencing given that nobody will help me repair my car," said Ubisi.
The department of roads and transport could not be reached for comment.
