Three invigilators in the Western Cape were suspended after they allegedly allowed pupils to cheat during two matric examinations.
The three teachers from Fezeka Secondary School in Gugulethu were suspended after pupils from another school sent a report to the provincial education department.
The Western Cape education department (WCED) suspended the teachers after preliminary evidence suggested that invigilators allowed pupils to copy from textbooks and notes during Afrikaans second language paper 2 and Economics.
The exams were written on October 29 and 31.
The role of the principal is also investigated.
This follows an incident at the South African College High School (SACS) on October 10 when an incorrect paper, English first language paper 2, was handed to some candidates.
Following the leak, the department terminated the contract of the chief invigilator at SACS and has issued a warning to the head of the English department at the school.
The pupils will rewrite the exam on November 23.
Paddy Attwell, WCED's director of communication, said that no decision for a rewrite has been taken as yet.
